Her nursing background provides her with the ability to understand both the clinical and coding attributes of a procedure. She is an expert in analyzing chart documentation and in reengineering practices to enhance the reimbursement process. Kim has worked with small and large as well as private and academic and employed practices to provide coding education as well as performed documentation reviews.

He draws on his broad leadership experiences as a clinician, administrator, and physician executive when working with clients. He fully understands the need for collaborative relationships to achieve success and create win-win solutions.

Jennifer Bell (Jen) has over 30 years of experience in all areas of the revenue cycle with a focus on documentation auditing and coding abstraction, with a special interest in telehealth billing compliance and reimbursement. She has delivered coding and auditing services in addition to provider education for a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. Jen’s extensive knowledge and skills in successful appeals and payment recovery processes generate positive returns for clients.

Margaret Maley brings over 30 years of orthopaedic experience to her clients working with KarenZupko & Associates as a consultant and speaker for 20 years. With a B.S.N. from The University of Illinois and Master’s degree from Rush University, Ms. Maley began her career in Chicago as a clinical nurse specialist managing several FDA studies. Moving to Houston in 1986, she transitioned to the business side of orthopaedics. “Front-line” experience managing orthopaedic practices gives her unique insight into the challenges facing orthopaedic surgeons and their staff on a daily basis. She is acutely aware of the importance of correct coding and accurate documentation for proper reimbursement and to minimize the risk of audit. A skilled communicator, she can sort out difficult orthopaedic coding and reimbursement issues. Ms. Maley’s fast-paced, humorous presentations make her a favorite of surgeons, non-physician providers, administrators and staff.
